For as long as humanity has existed this fascination on accessing the spiritual realms for life advice has been there. Even when immense efforts were made by churches and governors to kill, burn and banish witches, shamans, heretics, alchemists, animal whisperers, oracles, pagans, heathens, and psychics; like wild seeds they eternally keep sprouting back in time.
The path of the Magician Archetype is constantly driven by the desire to uncover hidden truths to unlock the mysteries of the existence, according to Carl Jung. While this path is not set on everyone's cards or birth chart, it is not better or less than any other path. But just like the other paths, the impulse to align to the calling, is so pressing, so palpable, so synchronistical; that refusing it is not possible. It feels natural and fulfilling, as soul purposes should feel.

Countless must be the paths to dip your intuition to the oracular rivers Magicians, Witches, Mages, Psychics, Empaths. This is the one I followed with good results.
Ritual and Consecration of Space and Tools
Do not dismiss the power of rituals to connect our intuition to the otherworldly oracular currents. All world religions are rooted in sacred rituals as a means to magically enact a communication ceremony with divinity. At first the ritual procession will assist you to Psychologically tune out your judgmental reasoning and tune in the flowy heartful waters of intuition.
Through intuitive practice you will start tuning in and out of an intuitive-oracular state of mind quickly and at command without so much following of a ritual. Think of this as the Karate Kid Movie famous practice scene and its development throughout the movie: "Wax on, wax off, wax on, wax off."
Tools to consecrate are:
- A new journal and new pens.
- A set of two or three Tarot Decks.
- A set of five everyday objects to represent the 5 elements of Magick.
- A small to medium floor space inside or outside, with or without rug, where you can meditate on, without interruptions.
- A nice desk or table with a comfortable chair in your home, bedroom or study room for tarot reading and journaling.
- A playlist of Instrumental Music on the background.
Think anything relaxing and instrumental: Celtic, flute, Native American, Indigenous Chants, Drums, Singing Bowls, Tuning Forks, Throat Chants, Didgeridoos, Spanish or Gypsy Guitar, Nature Soundtracks.
While playing a soundtrack to open your doors of oracular perception might seem too ceremonial, it is very useful, especially at the beginning of your Magician Path when you are just learning to switch off your left side brain of reasoning, to enter your right side of intuition.
*Optional:
- A Wand-Stick-Letter Opener-Dull Knife or Chalk to draw a protective magickal circle and direct energy.
Everything on this list should feel special to you, magical as in for treasure keeping. You can buy this brand new, recycle from stuff you have at home or treasure hunt at a Dollar Store.

Center and ground seems like the beginning of a daffodil garden tutorial, and it is so because gardening and meditation go hand in hand. Avid gardeners will attest to how much gardening grounds them, brings them into the present, clearing their mind from the everyday clutter of to-do-lists, expectations, fears, and deadlines. People who are naturally drawn to gardens, trees, plants or animals have an innate good intuition about their surroundings and things.
Among these naturalist souls, we find frequently that their magickal intuition, their sixth sense, or third eye sporadically sends them oracular messages of caution and protection.
The reason for this is the element of Earth. For me, as a Wiccan Witch, Earth is the first element (Earth, Air, Fire, Water) on Tarot Cards and the gateway to understand the other elements. Earth energy includes all forms of Matter. For there to be Big Bangs of Energy, there must be shape-matter to blow, move and rearrange by Cosmic Energy. The blueprint of the organizing or orchestrating Cosmic Energy, is imprinted in all matter and forms that came to be from it, the same way we carry the genes of our forefathers.
By connecting intuitively with nature, we can better attune to natural cosmic oracular currents, to become sensitive to the living things around us, their magnetic fields and the patterns of their cycles.
Go outside and sit in a lotus position uninterrupted for 30 minutes or one hour and try out this guided meditation to start flexing your intuitive spiritual "muscle"

Don't expect these types of experiences to feel or look like a scene with Dr. Strange from the Avengers or much else like Harry Potter. You are threading on very subtle ethereal energies more akin to a subtle feeling of butterflies in your stomach or catching very slight romance chemistry sparks with another person, or subtly catching a vibe that an acquaintance pretends to like you while they secretly can't stand you. It would feel more like the flutter of butterfly wings or a slight tug of your gut. Other subtle feelings between your soul and the body might be or become your signature oracle ringtone as you keep practicing to notice the subtle grid of energy around you.
Apart from regularly doing grounding and centering visualization meditations, introduce new visualization exercises to connect to the Moon Cycles, to the Sun, to the wind, to rain, to plants, flowers, and trees. Pick one natural element at a time to connect on your meditation while you try to feel and then visualize its energy.
Once you felt a connection with these subtle energies move to connect to insects, birds and other animals around you. Even when seeking connection with these energies, always approach them with humbleness and respect, they too are alive on the surface of this planet and deserve respect at all levels, from physical to energetical.
As you keep energetically connecting with natural elements, plants and animals, you will start intuitively comprehending a kindred spark of life and heart in all living things, that you too share.

To which higher power, you might ask? To the one that resonates with your heart the most. Connect to the higher power that aligns with your truest highest spiritual values. You could go reach for your God from your family, for the God you reencountered as a grown up, or a new one that you discovered and fell in love with. Any heartful God or Goddess will do.
Why a higher power? Because oracular rivers are not a place for us humans to visit without patronage or guide. Our understanding of what we feel in those waters is incomplete. To successfully travel those rivers, we must take a leap of Faith, trusting that by being true of heart, we can leave our concerns humbly at the feet of Providence, and Providence will allow us to see useful things.

As we start leaving the riverbanks of worldly reason, we trust that "The Higher Power" of the Universe will lead our canoe of intuition to where it needs to go and that we will feel with our heart first and then see with our third eye what is in the highest good to be known for us and for those involved. Put in a humble request to your Higher Power that the signs provided in the oracular rivers will show themselves useful in the real world to you clearly by God's will in God's time.
With this in mind, we must be fully in the mindset and heart space that we are indeed working with higher powers, and that a humble framework is required from us. By this I mean, if we are allowed to see through the veil it is because divinity allows for it because our intentions are good and true. Most importantly we must respect what is not for us to know at this time. Not everything can be known, as it may interfere in the spiritual evolution of our soul or those, we read tarot cards to.
There would be situations we probably will not go through if we knew all the hard work it would take, including heartache, but that in the higher plan of our soul are important for us to go through. There are other occasions where we are encouraged to go through with a situation and get a glimpse of the positive side of it on the tarot cards, while the negative is blindsided.
It is only through the test of time and by looking in hindsight once the lessons are finished that we get to "see" and comprehend the whole picture. Regardless of how much intuition exercises you do, or how psychic you might naturally be, and how hard you try, you must also learn to recognize when you cannot see through the veil. It could be because you are not in the right mind frame, or it could be that you are not supposed to see this for yourself or for others.

Be humble at all times. Be humble in the possibility of being wrong about your tarot reading predictions and put your intuition in the service of your Higher Power, not the other way around. Although you might not be in the habit of putting your trust in anything other than yourself, without this release, your mind ego will keep interrupting the intuition process because you fear the stakes of being wrong or right are too high, and you will probably never successfully attain oracular intuition.
Your compulsive need to control situations or outcomes, your fear and anxiety of being wrong, or your compulsion to be right, must all be completely released at the riverbank before you board your spiritual barge with your Higher Power leading the way.

Visualize your heart chakra opening and connecting to everything around you, people, animals, birds, insects, plants, flowers, trees, food, sunshine, rain...
As simple as it may sound, the kinder you become with your surroundings, the easier and faster it will become to divine through your tarot cards.
How would you know you are hitting the oracular "mark"?
Well, your oracular hints and intuitions start to prove correct by other people as situations naturally develop. In what they will usually proof correct the most, would be in the ones that the oracular question and soul purpose are in harmony with each other, as least in my experience.
Be humble in accepting if a tarot oracular communication wants to reroute to another side of your question instead, as in something related to this question that is more present to address. Be open in being lead by the message of the tarot cards, the person asks for x, and the cards want to relay a message about another topic instead. In many instances, if not most, indeed the message detour is of more value to the person's soul path than their initial question.
If through the intuition of your activated heart chakra feeling and a certain peaceful calm very subtle knowing, you feel you've entered oracular waters, keep going. The sense of the message would start to feel tangible in your minds-eye, like it has a particular energy shape after you have seen and reviewed all the cards in a whole.
The sequence should evoke in you a sort of mystic confidence of how this story is developing. As you go back to the same tarot deck spread of your choice regarding your question days later, you will still feel the same sense of the exact same story coming from them. That is, as long as you have journaled the question. Why the oracle was consulted for, is vital to record, as much as the insights you get.
This is why journaling your tarot readings as a beginner tarot reader is important. Journal for tarot reading insights on your life to keep a good record of it. Journal for tarot readings for important world events focusing on the spiritual side if that arena is of your fancy. Just journal to keep a record of your oracular path. It is worth it.

Big PSA about developing your intuition in a psychic way.
While not everyone is born a psychic, with a distinct highlighted Clair that works without prompts, meditation or tools, Tarot Cards Oracular Advice can be developed without any pre-existing "Clairs" by almost everyone, as long as you can take the leap from the rational mind into the intuitive side with a calm and humble approach.
These are the Clairs I refer to:
Claircognizant: You just know, not know arrogantly or excitedly, you just calmly know, if something is going on.
Clairsentient: You just feel the story in your body as if it was happening to you and it feels very real.
Clairaudience: You hear the story, a little creep if you ask me, ok, just kidding, but be careful with psychosis or schizophrenia if you hear things in a whisper and they never pan out.
Clairvoyant: You see the story as if you had been a frontline witness.
The above Clairs might develop as you progress on your Tarot Readings and Meditations to connect with the energy of your surroundings. Or they might not. Not developing Clairs is also a blessing.
There is a big PSA regarding developing your intuition through Tarot, and it is not all good news. A keen psychic intuition is a double edge sword. There is sometimes lots of bliss in ignorance. Empaths (permanent Clairsentient mode) know this already. It's cool getting the intel before everyone else does, except when it is bad news, and you have to zip it. For example, you might develop the Clair of Death and can sense as a person or creature's soul energy has started it's transitioning to the other side and you can tell it's definite, not a warning to go to the doctor for an urgent checkup.
Or when you either are born with a strong Clair or get them to the level of connecting so well to the vibes around you, that you also get strong input when someone thinks ill of you and they pretend they don't because it is not socially acceptable to, specially over jealousy. It's the yuckiest feeling ever. It's so nice to feel good people's energy and when they truly like you, it's like heartwarming sunshine, but it's horrible to feel the energy of the evil thoughts of others towards you and worse to feel up evil people.

If this ever becomes a problem, ask the Creator and your Soul Guide-Guarding Angel, to cull down your Claires and put some dimmers on your Third Eye, or to only let you see or feel what is pertinent to you and others for safety and for your soul purposes.
Ground after a Tarot Reading, like jump, or dance a little, or eat a fruit or a sandwich or a cookie, drink water, or any other natural beverage, or do a short mantra on Lotus Position, water your plants, take a walk with your dog or by yourself, walk barefoot in grass or on a ceramic floor, hug a tree or play with your sand garden. Any of these, but do ground after Tarot Readings, so you don't stay in your psychic mind permanently. We live in this Earthly plane and coming back to it is important, to your family and friends, to your chores, to your job, to your tangible reality. It is necessary to keep a good balance between a healthy mind, a healthy intuition and a healthy physical life.
Ancient mysticism of all kinds shares the lore that a person must be of a certain level of maturity in order to progress their psychic abilities. Some people are born with it, from day one, and the lore is that they developed their psychic abilities in previous lives, and it just sticks to your soul like glue, just like your soul's heart lessons, so it keeps showing up you want it or not. Be careful about psychic development, it does not make you infallible to error, you have to keep working on your Ego every day, so you don't become an idiot or become delusional on some other parts of your life.
An imbalance of psychism without developing social emotional maturity, compassion, patience, humility, and a good hang on the physical reality, can be more hindering than helpful throughout your life. Be wise, walk the middle path, and don't overdo, ground, and work on your real life to get better, as keenly as you do on your psychic and spiritual one.
